Culture and Capital: Exploring the Role of Cultural Identity in Financial Behavior

  • Brainstormed different ideas to conduct independent research project as part of AP Research course during the 2024-2025 school year in areas of personal and professional interests
  • Developed research methodologies for the selected independent research topic: the extent to which cultural identity influences financial prioritization among those living in the U.S. of Colombian, Venezuelan, and Brazilian ethnic descent

International Leadership & Business Internship at Georgetown University, Leadership Initiatives
July 2024
  • Collaborated with business experts and a local entrepreneur to improve the infrastructure and marketing strategy of a small restaurant business in Bauchi, Nigeria
  • Created and presented a proposal with viable solutions to address the restaurant’s most pressing obstacles, including limited access to essential and reliable resources, high operating costs, difficult access to suppliers, competition, and poor safety
  • Educated the local entrepreneur about key financial literacy concepts, including budgeting, financial planning, tracking expenses and income, saving, and debt management
  • Received a grant of $1,350 from a panel of industry leaders to implement the proposal
